TITLE: Fire Chief
DEPARTMENT: Emergency Services
PROGRAM FUNCTION:
The Blood Tribe Department of Heath includes Blood Tribe Emergency Services, Fire Service, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Fire investigation, Fire Inspection, Fire Prevention and Education, These Services are provided for the Blood Tribe 148 – 148 A.
PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Fire Chief Position is a management position responsible to plan, organizes, direct, control and evaluate the Fire and EMS operations of the Blood Tribe Emergency Services Fire/EMS Service.
QUALIFICATIONS STATEMENT
Education and Experience:
Certified Local Government Managers Certificate (or willingness to work towards same within a reasonable period of time) or Business Administration Certificate, Fire Science Certificate, or Certificate in Fire Management and Leadership, Certified post-secondary education at a recognized educational institute in the areas of administration leadership and/or other related areas. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Ten years progressively more responsible related management experience
Experience leading/managing an Emergency Response organization
Relevant operational firefighter experience
Experience supervising, mentoring and coaching staff
Experience evaluating programs and services
Valid AB driver’s license class 4Q, and satisfactory driver’s abstract
Active non-restricted licensing with the Alberta College of Paramedics minimum Primary Care Paramedic (PCP)
Incident Command System (ICS) 400

Introduction Emergency Operations Centers
NFPA 1001– Level II
NFPA 1021 – Fire Officer Level II
NFPA 1031 – Inspector Level I
NFPA 1033 – Investigator Level I
NFPA 472 – Dangerous Goods Command Level
