Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

• Perform scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.

• Ensure the commercial fleet is maintained and inspected as required under our Commercial vehicle maintenance program.

• Repair on and off road heavy construction equipment
• Maintain maintenance reports and other documentation required • Control shop inventory and ordering parts as required within budgetary constraints
• Make field service calls as required

Qualifications:

• Welding experience required

• Class 1 License desirable

The Westwind School Division #74 invites applications for the position of Director of Finance to commence as soon as possible. The successful candidate will report to the Secretary Treasurer and will work closely with the members of the Central Office Administration.

Primary responsibilities will include administering and preparation of the budget and financial statement documents.

General responsibilities include:
• Prepare annual division budget as directed by the Superintendent of Schools and the Secretary Treasurer.
• Assure the preparation and maintenance of accurate business and financial records including the timely submission of provincial and divisional reports to the Secretary Treasurer, Alberta Education, Alberta Infrastructure and other agencies as required.
• Monitor, review and ensure compliance with all laws and regulations related to school finance and other business functions.
• Coordinate and manage all matters related to the external auditing of all fiscal aspect of programs and schools in the division including the development of the divisional financial statements.
• Conduct internal auditing examination of all fiscal aspects of programs and schools including school generated funds.
• Administer trust and scholarship funds and any associated reporting requirements.
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, journal entries.
• Applications to Alberta Education, Alberta Infrastructure, and other agencies for all funding related to instruction, transportation, plant operations and maintenance, administration and facilities.
• Work annually with external auditors.

Preference will be given to candidates who have:
• A recognized professional accounting designation (CGA, CA, CMA) or a combination of related training and experience.
• Several years of effective experience in school business administration, corporate, governmental or private sector experience.
• Proficiency in the use of computerized accounting and other relevant computer systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
• Exemplary communication skills and a demonstrated ability to write and verbally present clear and concise financial and related reports.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Housing Director oversees the operation of the Housing Department under the direction of Senior Management. As part of the Housing Departments mandate, the incumbent is responsible for the overall management of Housings programs and services to ensure all Blood Tribe residence requirements are met. The Housing Director will be responsible for a number of tasks that include leadership contributions in the development of policies, long-term strategic plans, financial strategies, project management oversite, human resource strategies, and initiatives as identified by Senior Management and the Housing Committee. In addition, the Housing Director is responsible for developing short and long-term housing maintenance plans and improvement of existing housing as well as the establishment of future housing. The Housing Director works collaboratively with the Housing Committee, Senior Management, Department of Indian Affairs, and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation to establish parameters and to obtain funding for the New Housing and Home Renovation/Improvement Programs.

This positon requires an incumbent with proven Senior Leadership experience with the ability to function at a high level both independently and collaboratively in the areas of leadership, strategy, budgeting, policy development, administration, evaluation, public relations, and communication. Must have the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. In addition, must be knowledgeable in project management.

NECESSARY TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  •   Must have a Bachelor of Management Degree with a minimum of five (5) years senior management experience in the related field or a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
  •   Working knowledge of project management, housing inspection, comprehensive housing planning and housing mortgage and financing experience.
  •   Knowledgeable with Blackfoot culture and language.
  •   Knowledge of Human Resource and Financial principles.
  •   Proven experience in a Senior Management role in the areas of budgeting and strategic planning.
  •   Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a reliable mode of transportation.
  •   Clear Criminal Record Check.
